1 Dominican University of California INTERNET ONLINE WEB SERVICES PRIVACY STATEMENT Dominican University of California is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses the Internet services we provide ("Online Web Services"). Please read the following Privacy Statement to understand what information we collect, how we use it, under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it, and how we protect it from unauthorized disclosure. By subscribing to or using the Online Web Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Statement. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Statement, do not use the Online Web Services. 2. INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE Dominican University of California is the sole owner of any information collected in connection with our Online Web Services. We will not sell, share or rent this information to others, except under limited circumstances, as described in this Privacy Statement. Customers of our Online Web Services are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our customers can make an informed choice as to whether or not they should proceed with services that require an outside party. We collect information from our customers at several different points on our Online Web Services, as described below. 3. REGISTRATION In order to use the Online Web Services, a customer must first complete a registration form. During registration customers are required to give their contact information (for example, name, address, telephone number, billing information (such as a credit card number). This information is used to fulfill the customer's order and to manage each customer's account (such as for billing purposes). If we have trouble processing an order, this information is used to contact the customer. This information also may be used to contact customers about other services provided by Dominican University of California in which they have expressed interest. 4. COOKIES A cookie is a piece of data that is sent to a customer's browser, stored on the customer's hard drive and contains information about the customer, when the customer visits certain Web sites. Dominican University of California does not use cookies. Please be aware that if you visit non- Dominican University of California Web sites where you are prompted to log in or that are customizable, you may be required to accept cookies. 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Customer contact information, such as name and email address, may be used to deliver announcements. Customers can opt out of the announcement delivery service during the registration process or at anytime thereafter. 6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY You must be at least 18 years old to subscribe to our Online Web Services. We strongly suggest that parents carefully supervise any online activities of children below that age and caution children against sending personal information to anyone online. 7. SHARING Dominican University of California does not share information about our customers with anyone outside our company. We may gather general statistics about the usage of various aspects of our services to help us determine what types of additional services to offer our customers, to otherwise change or enhance the services, or for other internal administrative purposes. We may partner with reputable third parties to provide specific services to our customers. When a customer signs up for these services, we will provide these third parties with the customer's name or any other information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These third parties will not be allowed to use our customers' personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing the requested services. We will disclose personal information about customers in response to (a) requests from local, state (provincial) or federal law enforcement officials, or (b) any judicial, administrative or similar proceeding or order, such as a subpoena, or (c) if required by law. We may also disclose personal information in special circumstances, such as in response to a physical threat or perceived physical threat to any individual or to enforce the terms of any user agreement. 8. LINKS If we provide links to other Web sites in connection with the Online Web Services, please be aware that Dominican University of California is not responsible for the privacy practices of other Web sites. We encourage our customers to exercise caution when they leave our Online Web Services and to read the privacy statements of every Web site that they visit. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by Dominican University of California. 9. SECURITY Dominican University of California takes reasonable precautions to protect its customers' information. When customers submit sensitive information to us in connection with the Online Web Services, the information is protected both online and off-line. When customers enter sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) on our registration/order form, that information is encrypted and is protected with the industry's leading encryption software - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers, such as Netscape Navigator TM and Microsoft Internet Explorer TM, becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when customers are just 'surfing.' In addition to using SSL encryption to protect sensitive information that we receive online, we also are careful to protect customer information off-line. Access to all of our customers' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need such information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Although we strive to protect your personal information once we receive it, no data transmission over the Internet is completely secure. Customers must accept all risks associated with any data transmission, including the risk that their personal information may be intercepted in transit. SPECIAL OFFERS We may send new customers an email to welcome them to our Online Web Services or to confirm their registration. ONLINE WEB SERVICES UPDATES We may communicate with customers to provide requested services and regarding issues relating to their account via email. We may also send service announcement updates to our customers. CORRECTION/UPDATING PERSONAL INFORMATION If a customer wishes to view, correct or update their personally identifiable information, or if a customer no longer desires our Online Web Services, we will correct, update or remove that customer's personal data provided to us. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify customers by way of an email.
